Volunteer with NMD United
We are always looking for talented, eager individuals to help us expand our organization! If you are spreading in expanding the knowledge and information available to adults with neuromuscular disabilities, we’d love to hear from you! You must have a positive, empowering attitude, be willing to share your knowledge with others, and work directly with the founders and fellow members of NMD United. Our ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between individuals with neuromuscular disabilities by encouraging meaningful interactions through in-person and web-based communication opportunities.
We will post specific volunteer opportunities as they become available. If you have any specific area of expertise (i.e. independent living, housing, transportation, disability law, etc.) please let us know!
NMD United is excited to offer a new online peer support outreach group. This novice group specifically services the NMD community at large. We connect peers with a trained adult listener who lives with or has first hand experience with neuromuscular disorders. The purpose of this group is in line with that of NMD United’s mission, as we hope to empower others through sharing similar experiences, offering 24 hour support/advice, and answering questions regarding NMD. Our trained listeners have diverse skill sets and life experiences. They desire not only to answer questions and share knowledge, but also to provide an open connection for those seeking companionship with someone who can truly understand life challenges attributed to a neuromuscular disability. Please note that this group is not a counseling based service and listeners do not have any formal training in counseling.
If you are interested in becoming a listener or have questions regarding how you can be more involved in this group, please contact Jenna Luzzo at firstname.lastname@example.org.
